In a fresh twist to the ongoing security threats against Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, a 26-year-old man from Vadodara, Gujarat, has been detained by Worli Police for allegedly sending a bomb threat via WhatsApp. According to sources, the accused, identified as Mayank Pandya, had sent the threatening message to the Mumbai Traffic Police’s helpline, stating that he would enter Khan’s house and plant a bomb in his car.
As per sources, Pandya was detained, interrogated by the authorities, and later let off after being served an official notice. The message reportedly said, “We will enter your house and kill you,”* and included a claim of placing explosives in Salman Khan’s vehicle. While the message did not directly name the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the threat’s language closely resembled previous messages attributed to the gang—raising concerns that it could be part of a larger pattern.
This incident marks the fifth major threat to the actor’s life in the past two years. Last year, gunshots were fired at Salman Khan’s Bandra residence, Galaxy Apartments, by alleged gang members. Additionally, an assassination plot targeting the actor at his Panvel farmhouse was also uncovered. The repeated threats stem from a long-standing conflict tied to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, in which Khan was accused but later acquitted. The Bishnoi community, which considers blackbucks sacred, has since maintained hostility towards the actor.
Despite the looming dangers, Salman Khan continues to remain active in the film industry. His latest release, ‘Sikandar’, directed by AR Murugadoss, was launched during Eid. While the film managed to earn over ₹200 crore globally, its domestic performance was considered modest for a Salman-starrer and fell short of expectations.
According to police officials, the cyber cell is now involved in tracing the exact origin of the WhatsApp message and verifying whether the sender acted independently or was influenced by external criminal elements. Authorities emphasized that threats, even through digital platforms, will be taken seriously and dealt with under strict legal provisions.
Meanwhile, security around Salman Khan has been tightened, with additional police deployment at his residence and enhanced surveillance on public appearances. As per insider sources, the Mumbai Police is treating the case with utmost urgency and is monitoring any possible connections to previous threats or known offenders.
While Salman Khan has yet to make an official comment on this specific incident, sources close to his family have confirmed that he is aware of the threat and is cooperating fully with the police. The investigation remains ongoing, and further updates from law enforcement are expected in the coming days.
This case once again highlights the growing concerns around cyber threats, especially when directed toward high-profile individuals. It also raises urgent questions about how digital platforms are being misused to circulate threats and how law enforcement must evolve to handle such cases swiftly and effectively.
