India is grappling with sorrow and rage following the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 innocent tourists, including two foreign nationals, lost their lives and over 20 others were injured in a brutal act of violence. As the scenic Baisaran valley—popularly known as “Mini Switzerland”—turned into a site of horror, voices from across the country rose in solidarity, including heartfelt messages from some of India’s most iconic film stars.
Actor Sidharth Malhotra, best known for portraying Captain Vikram Batra in Shershaah, condemned the attack in a statement on X: “The terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on innocent civilians is a cowardly act. I have full faith in our armed forces and I’m sure they will do the needful and ensure justice. My prayers and thoughts are with the families of the innocent victims. Jai Hind!”
Sanjay Dutt, who has played major roles in patriotic films like LOC Kargil and Mission Kashmir, expressed outrage and urged the Indian government to retaliate. “They killed our people in cold blood. This can’t be forgiven, these terrorists need to know we are not staying quiet. We need to retaliate, I request our Prime Minister @narendramodi ji, Home Minister @AmitShah ji and Defence Minister @rajnathsingh,” he posted.
Southern film industry megastar Allu Arjun conveyed his heartbreak over the tragedy, saying: “Soo heart broken by #Pahalgam Attack. Such a beautiful place with kind hearted people. Condolences to all the families, near and dear of the victims. May their innocent souls rest in peace. Truly Heart breaking.”
Kareena Kapoor Khan, who also starred in LOC Kargil, took to Instagram to post: “Beyond heartbroken for the victims and their families. Praying for the lives lost #Pahalgam.”
Actor Akshay Kumar, whose current film Kesari Chapter 2 is in theatres, shared: “Horrified to know of the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Sheer evil to kill innocent people like this. Prayers for their families.”
The government is still compiling the final list of victims and their identities. The Resistance Front (TRF)—an offshoot of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba—has claimed responsibility for the act, according to circulating social media content. In response, heightened security and investigations have begun across Jammu and Kashmir.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is conducting high-level meetings to assess the situation, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Srinagar and paid tribute to the victims. Across the nation, citizens and public figures alike are expressing not only sorrow but a renewed call for enhanced security measures and swift justice.
Pahalgam, once a symbol of serenity and tourism in Kashmir, now stands in silence. Tourists who arrived seeking peace were instead caught in unspeakable violence. The attack has not only shaken India’s heart but also reignited conversations around national safety, the future of tourism in conflict zones, and the deep scars left by terrorism.
As India mourns, the solidarity shown by the film industry—mirroring the collective grief of the nation—acts as a powerful reminder: the country stands united, and voices demanding peace and justice will not be silenced.
