Officials confirmed that the crackdown came after the Home Ministry’s urgent review of online activities following the tragic killing of 26 civilians during the Pahalgam assault.
Leading Pakistani media outlets such as Geo News, Dawn, Raftar, Bol News, ARY News, Samaa TV, and Suno News were among the prominent channels blocked in India.
Additionally, the personal YouTube handles of well-known journalists like Muneeb Farooq, Umar Cheema, Asma Shirazi, and Irshad Bhatti were also taken down for allegedly spreading misinformation against India’s military and security forces.
Smaller but influential content creators such as Uzair Cricket, The Pakistan Reference, Razi Naama, and Samaa Sports were also part of the ban list.

The Indian government explained that these channels were disseminating provocative, communally sensitive, and misleading content that could disrupt national harmony.
Given the heightened public emotions after the Pahalgam tragedy, officials said it was critical to act fast and neutralize digital misinformation campaigns before they triggered unrest.
