Akshay Kumar’s Sincere Request at Kesari 2 Premiere: Please Don’t Use Phones During the Film

Bollywood icon Akshay Kumar showcased not just his star power but his sincerity during the grand premiere of Kesari 2 in Delhi. At an exclusive screening held in Chanakyapuri, the actor took a moment to make a heartfelt appeal to the audience: “Please don’t use your phones while watching the film. It will be a humiliation for the story we’ve tried to tell.”

The actor’s unexpected but earnest request came as a surprise to many. Known for his action-packed performances and patriotic roles, Akshay chose not to speak about box office numbers or visual grandeur. Instead, he focused on preserving the sanctity of cinema. “Keep your phones in your pockets and immerse yourself in the dialogues. Every line carries a piece of history,” he said, addressing the audience with genuine emotion.

Kesari 2, directed by debut filmmaker Karan Singh Tyagi, is a historical courtroom drama based on the real-life story of C. Sankaran Nair, an Indian lawyer who boldly challenged the British Empire in court following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Adapted from the acclaimed book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, the film dives deep into one of the most pivotal yet lesser-known legal battles of India’s colonial era.

The premiere night was a grand affair with stars Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan personally welcoming dignitaries, fans, and media. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation, but Akshay’s words grounded the moment in sincerity. “This film is about truth, courage, and justice,” he said. “If we can give it our full attention for two hours, we honor not just the film but the real people behind the story.”

The plot follows C. Sankaran Nair’s legal struggle against Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, who sued Nair for defamation after Nair exposed British atrocities, including his writings on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film explores themes of resistance, justice, and the power of voice during a time when India was under colonial rule.

Scheduled for a nationwide release this Friday, Kesari 2 is already being called a game-changer for historical Indian cinema. Its blend of powerful storytelling, riveting courtroom scenes, and compelling performances is expected to resonate with a wide range of audiences—from students and educators to legal professionals and history buffs.

More than just a film, Kesari 2 is positioned as a cinematic homage to India’s forgotten heroes. It shines a spotlight on a man whose courage in a courtroom reverberated across an empire. For Akshay Kumar, this is not just another movie—it’s a responsibility. “We owe it to our past to listen, to learn, and to remember. And that starts by simply putting our phones away,” he concluded.

As anticipation builds ahead of the release, Kesari 2 stands as a reminder that cinema, when crafted with purpose, can be both a mirror to the past and a call to present-day awareness. And sometimes, all it takes to respect that journey is to silence our phones and open our hearts.
